Bulgaria’s communist legacy is still visible all over the country, but so is the modernization that has come with its entry into the EU. From the weeks I spent traveling the Balkans, I remember Bulgaria particularly for having exceptional food. A huge portion of ice cream and the best grilled, stuffed pepper I’ve ever had make my mouth water years later.
