Little more than 12 hours after I arrived in Ottawa it was time to leave again, to now carry on to Toronto. But first we stopped at Ottawa’s aviation museum, where I spent around three hours looking at various different aircraft – most of which were either used by the Canadian air force and some which were even made in Canada, like the Avro Arrow, which unfortunately never got beyond the prototype stage (not the plane on the photo, though).

We continued our journey on the highway. A significant difference is the speed limit – which is 100km/h here in North America, while on most European highways it is at 130km/h and on most parts of the German highways there is no speed limit whatsoever. So getting from one place to another, especially a distance like the one we were travelling today, does take quite a bit longer than it would in Europe.

After about five hours, we were clearly approaching Toronto – around us, there were some suburbs with skyscrapers and the highway got more and more lanes…

The apartment we have rented for our short stay in Toronto has an amazing view – the photo below is not even what I see from the window on the 11th floor, but only the view towards the CN tower from in front of the house!

Further, the apartment is right at the port and the city airport (which, by the way, can only be reached from the air or by boat from the city itself) is right behind the port. I set out in the evening to watch Toronto transition from day to night and tried to take a couple photos – two of which I now also use as wallpapers on my phone xD

Good night Toronto – but I suppose a city like this never sleeps.
