Day nine of my stay in China, now in Shanghai, had a similar structure to the previous day. I got up relatively early in the morning to go to school with my Chinese exchange student and stayed there for the first half of the day. After the lunch break, we – that is us, the visitors from Berlin, a few teachers from the Shanghai school and our exchange students – went to visit a very large history museum.

On the way there, of course, there were again flags to take photos of. But what you can also see is that in Shanghai there are much more (green and alive) trees than I saw in Beijing. You can also see that the city is in general much more modern than the capital.

The museum is very big, and after we went through a security check, my friend and me were guided through parts of it by our host students. There were, of course, very many interesting artifacts and because I love history and archaeology I could go on forever about what we saw, but I think I’ll limit myself to a photo.

After we were done looking at some of the most important parts of the museum – mainly ancient cups, pots and other utensils to hold liquids – our exchange students made a quick tea ceremony for us in the spare time we had. But this time, unlike the one we had seen in Beijing, it was not for a commercial purpose, and it was quite interesting to see. And of course, the tea tasted very good.

After that, we all went back home, I enjoyed, again, a very nice dinner and then went to sleep fairly early again because I just couldn’t stand the temperature in the apartment any more.
